Road Trip Day 2 - Virginia and Tennessee

Today Elvis went to UVA. This was his second college campus visit (we took him to Boston College, our alma mater, last fall).  It was Sunday morning so most of the undergrads were still sleeping.  The campus was pretty quiet and it was easy for us to take Elvis for a long walk without too much trouble.  We spent the afternoon walking around the UVA campus and historic Charlottesville.  It was still really rainy today but OK enough to be outside a bit and take a much needed break from the car.

In Charlottesville we had lunch at this burger place called Boylan Heights near the campus which was fine but nothing special.  I'm hoping the food in Tennessee is a little more exciting because so far all we've seen is a lot of chain restaurants.  We did find this place called the Pink Cadillac Diner right off Highway 81 in Virginia.  We didn't eat anything here but we snapped a few photos.  There really is a pink Cadillac parked outside too.

The diner had this cute Elvis sign too.

Dave also wanted to see the Bristol Motor Speedway on our way to our stop for the night so we took a small detour to check it out.  The place is huge!!  This picture of our car next to one section of the speedway will hopefully give you an idea of just how many NASCAR fans there are out there.

We're off to Nashville tomorrow.  More updates soon.
